Quarter 2
So I realized that monthly posts are too much for me. So I am going to move to quarterly posts for now! But I have been keeping track all along, so I am still totally aware of where I am in my goals. Now let's see what I have been up to in April, May, and June.
Goal #1: Paint Models
I started off strong in April with painting to my eight models per month pace! I painted three more Daughter's of Khaine models that I want to use in Warcry. The Bloodwrack Medusa took a lot of time, as I tried as much as possible to individually highlight all of her scales. I also painted three great old fantasy figures. The amount of detail in these models and the proportions are so different compared to the new Games Workshop sculpts. Objectively, they are not nearly as nice, but I love the personality of the old sculpts. These are great models for use in both Ghost Archipelago and Warcry. Finally, in April I painted 2 more bugs for Stargrave.

May also saw me keep a decent pace, although I did not quite hit my eight models per month target. A lot of this was because of travelling that I was doing with my wife, but also with the weather outside getting better, I am not having as much time to paint. May was spent purely painting cars for Gaslands! I was able to paint six cars total. Three of which I was able to customize using old bits I had laying around. These were a great change of pace, and I am really excited to use them in a game soon!

In June my progress really slowed down, but I sort of expected this due to spending a lot more time out and about in the summer weather! Since I am already quite a bit ahead of my 100 model goal, I am not too concerned. I expect that July and August will also be slow months, and I might need to pick up the pace a bit in September to get back on track. Even though I only painted three models in June, I am really happy with them! These are models I ordered for Ghost Archipelago and I ordered them from a 3d printing website. I love their personality! I have more of them to paint and I will be trying to finish my whole Ghost Archipelago team by the end of summer!

In April, May, June combined I played six games total, which is keeping me on track for my goal of two games per month (24 for the year). One of the games was the first mission from the Quarantine 37 Strike from the Shadows campaign for Stargrave. I played this with an old gaming buddy and it was a blast! Unfortunately we have yet to continue the campaign (We might have to wait until fall at this point).
I also played three games of Ghost Archipelago. I ended up playing these with some old fantasy models I had painted up from before along with the old fantasy models I painted in April! This is a fun game with a great setting. I am really looking forward to be able to use my new 3d printed models to play this game in the future!
In addition, I played a game of Gaslands. I did not use my own cars for this as I hadn't painted them. It was a bit of a learning game, but even still it was a great time! As I mentioned before, I am excited to play another game and use my cars for it.
Finally, I played a game of Warhammer 40K 10th Edition with one of my neighbors! I was able to use my Imperial Guard that I painted last year and I actually had a lot of fun with the new ruleset. There were definitely differences, but it still felt like 40K.
Goal #3: Don't Buy New Stuff
So, obviously I did end up buying some more models haha. But I didn't buy too many! I bought the 3d printed models for Ghost Archipelago, which I am really excited for! And then when I was travelling in Edmonton with my wife I ended up buying some Imperial Guard for a steal of a deal! Overall, I don't think I did too bad considering I also sold some old fantasy and random 40K figures so once again, the pile of shame did not grow overall!
Half-Year Check-In
With half of the year gone, lets see how I am doing on my goals:
Models Painted: 62/100
Games Played: 13/24
Overall I am really happy with my progress! My painting is ahead of schedule which puts me in a good position for the inevitable summer slowdown. And my games played are just over 50%, so I am on track for that as well! I am still super motivated to meet my 2024 hobby goals!
